Research Cell, DAV College, Chandigarh in association with Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad (VIBHA) & Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India organised a talk on the topic ‘From Galileo to the James Webb Space Telescope’ on Sept 15, 2023. The talk was delivered by Prof Ajit Kembhavi, FASC., FNASC, Prof Emeritus, Former Director and Former Raja Ramanna Fellow at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune. Many distinguished guests attended the event including Prof Arun Grover, Former Vice Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh, Principal K.S. Arya Sh. Dharam Vir, IAS (Retd), President, SPSTI, Prof Keya Dharamvir from Physics Dept. Panjab University Chandigarh. Prof Rita Jain, Principal DAV College, welcomed the esteemed dignitaries and the audience. Prof Ajit Kembhavi enlightened the audience with his vast knowledge and expertise on space science. He gave a power point presentation in which he showed very interesting slides of various elements of Universe. The talk was very informative and interactive. Students from various streams attended the talk and showed keen interest in the topic. This day coincided with the Engineer’s day which is celebrated on 15th September every year. Mansi, a student from M.Sc Maths of DAV College briefed the audience about the same.
